Personal Statement
My interest in MPCPMP’s mission stems from a personal commitment to advancing Black historical narratives contextualized within contemporary realities. New generations must acknowledge The Middle Passage and engage with its enduring legacy. However static storytelling in both academia and media has struggled to engage the youth. I hope to explore and craft fresh, dynamic stories that humanize the ancestors and their descendants with care. I’m particularly drawn to MPCPMP’s core tenets of deep research and community partnership. I look forward to engaging with leadership to learn more about their grassroots process and offering my unique skillset to advance The Project.
