Personal Statement

I am honored to accept the invitation to serve as a Board Member for the Middle Passage Ceremonies and Port Markers Project, Inc. As President for the African American Cultural Society, I am deeply committed to preserving and uplifting the legacies of our ancestors, and I recognize the critical importance of the work your organization is doing to ensure that our shared history of both remembered and honored.

The Middle Passage was a painful chapter in our collective story, but it is also one that must not be forgotten. The creation of historical markers at key ports, along with the ceremonies that accompany them, provides a vital opportunity for reflection, education, and reconciliation. As a Board Member, I am eager to contribute to this powerful mission, not only to honor the lives of those who endured unimaginable suffering but also to help others receive the recognition they deserve.

It is a privilege to join this important initiative, and I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members, community members and descendants to advance the goals of the project. Together, we will ensure that these markers stand as lasting symbols of respect, remembrance and resilience.

Thank you again for this incredible opportunity to serve. I am excited to work alongside you all and make a meaningful contribution.
